Cable TV iPad Apps are a huge success

GigaOM reports today on the enormous popularity of the various applications of iPad television with cable channels that have been published in recent months. According to GigaOM, Time Warner Cable revealed at an appeal of earnings Thursday that its iPad app has been downloaded 360 times in its first month of release, and its success seems to be shared by other applications of cable through the Council at the United States, with Cablevision seeing 50,000 downloads in its first five days and Comcast revealing to GigaOM's Xfinity TV app has had more than 1.5 million downloads since its launch last November. A very interesting question raised by GigaOM or not the popularity of these applications may even be responsible for customers deciding to stay with their cable operator, when they may already have left. According to GigaOM, Time Warner Cable only lost 65 000 subscribers in the last quarter (and subscribers actually earned in March), which is in contrast to the last two quarters of last year, where he respectively lost 155,000 and 141 000 subscribers. It?s probably a little too early to say if the iPad applications are the reason for which customers decide to stay with their cable operator, but quite possible to it?s. Similar TV apps are also proving to be very popular in the United Kingdom, with the seated enough 4?s Catch Up 4oD channel at the top of the graphic free iPad Apps for the United Kingdom and the BBC?s iPlayer still drag in 5, return of several months since its release in February.
